Reader Spotlight: Marcello Lavorgna
Meet bassist Marcello Lavorgna, our player in the spotlight for September 1, 2009.
Bio:
I was born on January 23, 1985, in Magenta (Milan).
My first experience in music was at the age of 15, when I bought my first bass and I began to play. At the beginning I listened especially to metal and rock music, but over the years I opened my mind to every kind of music. In 2006/2007 I recorded my first solo project entitled “Dark & Light”.
I’m really charmed by soundtracks, so my music is an ensemble of bass, piano/synth, and strings.
Location:
Milano, Italy
Day gig:
I’m an IT student and a bass player.
Years experience:
I’ve been playing for about 10 years. I’m 24 years old.
Bands & Gigs:
I play with two bands, a pop rock band and an alternative rock band: Carry, a pop rock band and Too Fast For A Blind Road, an alternative rock band. I’m currently in the studio, recording with my pop band.
Gear:
- American Fender Jazz Bass
- Eden WT330 head
- Aguilar GS212 cabinet
Why I play the bass:
When I was younger, I was always captured by the low frequencies!
My bass superpower/claim to fame
Although I’m a bass player, I like so much Italian piano composers like Roberto Cacciapaglia and Ludovico Einaudi, and I also like soundtracks!
My influences
Steve Harris… I think his way of playing bass and his determination make him a unique player!
