Chris Brubeck on his life, music and bass

Chris BrubeckThe Calgary Herald has done a nice spotlight piece on bassist Chris Brubeck, covering his early childhood start in music, through his current compositions. Brubeck is the son of pianist Dave Brubeck.

“I play electric fretless bass, but I sound a lot like an upright bass…” Brubeck shares. “…If anyone knows anything about me, it’s like, ‘Oh, he’s the one guy that can play a fretless bass that doesn’t sound like Jaco.’”

Anyone in the California area can check out Brubeck’s “Ansel Adams: America,” a piece he co-wrote with his father on September 26th and 27th in Fresno. Brubeck currently does orchestral compositions as well as occasionally playing with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. You can check out more on his homepage.
