Gear Watch: Lava Cable Retro Coil

RCoilPYou can have the best bass out there and an awesome amp, but a poor cable connecting the two will still affect your tone. To help get the best sound possible, Lava Cables is releasing a new version of their popular Retro Coil cable.

One major change in the new Retro Coil is the cable length. Coiled cables use a lot of copper which can lead to a choking effect from the high capacitance. The new Retro Coil is now only 20 feet rather than 25 to cut back on this issue.

Other features are also integrated to enhance the quality:

  • 99.999% OFC specially annealed low-strand count oxygen-free copper conductor
  • G&H Ultra-High Clarity plugs
  • All plug configurations available: silent plug to straight or right angle, straight to straight, right angle to straight, and right angle to right angle
  • Lifetime warranty

Like all coiled cables you get the advantage of keeping it out of your way on stage and easy bundling. The new Retro Coil easily fits into a bass guitar case along with your instrument. The cable comes in purple, black, orange and white and all cables are made completely in the USA, retailing at $64.95. More information is available at from Lava Cable’s web site.
