Did you know that there are specific types of strings for the upright bass? You get different strings for the different styles of music you can play – even different tunings if you’re playing a classical solo bass piece. Now there is a company dedicated to producing bass strings specifically with rockabilly players in mind: Superior Bassworks.
Superior Bassworks creates kevlar-cored nylon upright strings. The strings come in Blood Red, Dirty Gut, Black and Clear Grey with special colors available for order. The strings feature a metal ferrule covered in vinyl at the tip. The strings are treated to provide a low-tension feel but remain stiff enough for pizzicato playing. For rockabilly and psychobilly slap players the nylon string will help prevent damage to your hand and fingerboard from continuous playing.
