Ron McGovney Auctioning Bass
by Evan Kepner Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Ron McGovney, the former bassist for Metallica, is auctioning his bass on eBay. Bids will be open until November, 6th at 7:03pm Pacific Standard Time.
The bass is a Fender Precision, purchased in 1985 and used in his post-Metallica band Phantasm. McGovney wrote, “This is an awesome bass and it does have a lot of history to it. I know somebody will really love it!”
Along with the bass the winning bidder will get some other memorabilia including:
- The original sales receipt – if you’re a Metallica collector you’ll see that the listed phone number is the same from the old business cards
- A photo of a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame plaque including McGovney for the Metallica song “Hit the Lights”
- A photo of McGovney with Robert Trujillo and Jason Newsted in Cleveland prior to Metallica’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction
Check out the auction page for more.
