Meet Larry Lee, our player in the spotlight for December 1st, 2009.
I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and in sixth grade I started doing two things (1) play football (2) play bass guitar. I am 50 now and those two things have carried me all of my life. After High School I went to UCLA played ball and graduated from there and was drafted into the NFL. I spent 18 years in the NFL 9 as a player and 9 as Vice President of the Lions all the while still playing my bass. In 2001 I was let go by the Lions and really started concentrating on the bass again. Its been 7 years now and I have the hottest band in the Detroit area called Larry Lee and Back In The Day. www.backinthedayband.com we perform for high end corp events all over the world. We are comprised of former Temptations, 4 Tops, Spinners, and Gospel Hall of Fame Musicians. Some of our clients are NFL, American Heart Association, Boy Scouts of America, Pittsburgh Steelers, Major League Baseball and others. We were voted best live performance band by the Detroit Area Musicians and Entertainers Association.
Im a partner in a private equity firm.

My bass superpower/claim to fame
I am primarily a funk player. I have studied several bass players and I\’m like a combination of Larry Graham, Victor Wooten, and Marcus Miller. I\’m known around Detroit as the funk master. Also I have a custom made bass that is shaped like the NFL shield with a football headstock.
