Ever wanted to see some of your favorite players give their own take on the legendary bass lines of the Who’s John Entwistle?
Here’s your chance: promoter Michael Dorf will be presenting “The Music of the Who” at Carnegie Hall on March 2, 2010.
The event, which benefits six organizations for music education, will feature such artists as Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule, Postelles, Bettye LaVette, Robyn Hitchcock, The Smithereens, Sondre Lerche, Mose Allison, Matt Nathanson, Gaslight Anthem, Frank Black (of the Pixies), Bobby McFerrin, Bob Mould (of Hüsker Dü), Living Colour, and even more to be announced.
The concert will be the sixth in the series of tributes, which have also included the music of REM, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan. Dorf says, “I grew up listening to The Who, and while the artists we’re bringing together to honor them are incredibly diverse, they share a certain authenticity that has also defined the music of The Who.”
Tickets are available from Carnegie Hall, and range from $45 to $245 for VIP seating. Visit the The Music of the Who at Carnegie Hall web site for updates.
