Christian McBride Joins Chick Corea’s Freedom Band Tour
Bassist extraordinaire Christian McBride will be traveling all over the world in his upcoming tour with the new Chick Corea Freedom Band.
The quartet also features saxophonist Kenny Garrett and drummer Roy Haynes. The group as a whole first played together for Corea’s Remembering Bud Powell, but each member has worked with one another in various projects through the years, creating strong musical relationships. The trek begins in California, heads through the States, across the ocean to Europe, and back to the U.S. to wrap it up where they began.
The group will also be joined on select tour dates by the trio of bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer, banjoist Bela Fleck, and Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain as they tour behind their 2009 release, The Melody of Rhythm: Triple Concerto & Music for Trio.
