Justin Williams is one of NYC’s upcoming bassists in the Underground Hip-Hop/R&B, Electronic scene. For six years he’s been supporting some today’s hottest acts (Joya Bravo, KalaeAllDay, C. Devone) holding down the low end and pushing the groove with every show.

Location:

New York, NY, USA

Husband, dog owner, chef, student of hard knocks

Years experience:

6 years

Bands & Gigs:

Too many to name… C.Devone, Joya Bravo, KalaeAllDay, Zawadi Noel, Freddy Fuego Sextet, Shelita Vaughns, People’s Lounge House Band and the Justin Williams Trio. I’m leaving out so many but that’s the main stuff.

Gear:

  • Warwick Thumb Singlecut 6
  • Jonas Hellborg 2×12, 1×15
  • Two-Channel Power Amp and Preamp

Why I play the bass:

I found it to be an instrument that’s harder to be good at than others that I’ve tried. The challenge was intriguing and I rose to the occasion.

My bass superpower/claim to fame

The ability to play just under the point of overplaying. :)

My influences

Anthony Jackson, Pino Palladino, Meshell Ndegeocello. To go on would be an exercise in futility…
