The Collectable King Crimson Vol 5: Live In Japan 1995

The Collectable King Crimson Vol 5: Live In Japan 1995A new two-disc set featuring performances from King Crimson’s 1995 world tour has been released.

The Collectable King Crimson Vol 5: Live In Japan 1995 offers the expanded audio taken from the original concert recordings used for Crimson’s Deja VROOOM DVD.

The band’s 1995 tour came after the “double trio” reformed after the release of THRAK. Personnel includes Tony Levin (upright and electric basses and background vocals), Adrian Belew (vocals, guitar), Robert Fripp (guitar), Pat Mastelotto and Bill Bruford (percussion) and Trey Gunn (background vocals).

Previously, the audio from the DVD was available only in bootleg release, named “Live in Japan”, which producers of the official release say was poorly executed, prompting the official release. While efforts have been made to stop distribution of the bootleg version, the producers decided to instead release the material from the original sources. Those sources include concert tape archives, rehearsal tapes and audio-restored bootlegs of historic recordings.

The box set comes with two additional tracks not featured on the DVD, plus Fripp’s introductory “Soundscape” for the Tokyo shows, photos, and liner notes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith.
