Steve Uccello and Nat Grant Release “Melbourne, Monterey”

sung: Melbourne, MontereyBassist Steve Uccello has been working with Australian percussionist/composer Nat Grant throughout the past year, and the duo has just released an album entitled Melbourne, Monterey.

The 8-track collection features an array of string and percussion instruments with a healthy dose of electronics and sound effects to create a cool ambient vibe. The album name comes from the places it was recorded, as it is a virtual collaboration.

“We did the whole thing online through Soundcloud and YouSendit,” Uccello explains. “It features me on upright bass (arco & pizz) and Nat on Vibraphones plus more percussion, plus both of us on a bit of electronics. It is a unique record due not only to the nature of the virtual collaboration, but also in that is a record that features a ton of bass, but might not be perceived of as a ‘bass record’.”

The whole album by the sung duo (*S*teve *U*ccello *N*at *G*rant) is available for streaming on Steve Uccello’s website or download via BandCamp for $8.
