Esperanza Spalding to Host New PBS Show

Esperanza SpaldingPBS has just announced bassist, vocalist and composer Esperanza Spalding has been asked to host a new program, “Find The Beat”. The show’s format will include Spalding joining a group, band or solo musician to explore the roots of their music, cultural connections and music history.

“Find The Beat” is a joint venture of PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), funded by their Diversity and Innovation Fund. The DI Fund “seeks to diversify the National Program Service by attracting younger and more racially and ethnically diverse viewers and visitors.” More than 200 submissions were received by the venture, with 16 chosen by their editorial staff to advance to panel review.

PBS is inviting comments about the show. If you’d like to see “Find The Beat with Esperanza Spalding” funded, drop an email to DIFundSubmission@pbs.org.

Hi,
It’s great to hear that you’re going to be coming to PBS with a new music show. I can’t wait to see how the show turns out because you already provide the listening public with quality music and the opportunity to present and collaborate with others is only going take the music on the show to another level. Congratulations & Keep Up The Good Work!!!
