Ultimate Bass Play-Along: Led Zeppelin Songbooks
Alfred Music Publishing, who owns the exclusive rights to the print publishing for Led Zeppelin, has pulled together over 30 years of documentation, interviews, and recorded footage to produce a 2-book series of songbooks exclusively for bassists looking to play in the style of John Paul Jones.
The books are designed to allow bassists to play along to many Led Zeppelin classics using notation or TAB, with vocal lines and lyrics also provided.
Each book also includes a CD with two versions of each son: an instrumental “sound-alike” version and an instrumental accompaniment track (without the bass track). The CDs are enhanced for computer use, allowing you to change the speed without impacting pitch. You can even change the key and switch between track styles.
“The intention of these recordings is to aid in the study of John Paul Jones’s bass parts by providing credible tracks to play along with,” commented Aaron Stang, Alfred Pop Guitar Editor. “We took special care to recreate his signature sound using equipment such as the 1991 Fender Jazz Bass, 1978 Fender Precision Bass, 1962 Reissue Fender Jazz Bass, and Ashdown amplifiers.”
Volume 1 of the series includes the following Led Zeppelin tunes: “Black Dog”, “Communication Breakdown”, “Dazed and Confused”, “Heartbreaker”, “Immigrant Song”, “Rock and Roll”, “Since I’ve Been Loving You” and “Whole Lotta Love”
Volume 2 includes: “Stairway to Heaven”, “The Song Remains the Same”, “Over the Hills and Far Away”, “Trampled Under Foot”, “Kashmir”, “Achilles Last Stand”, “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” and “All My Love”.
