Audiofile Engineering Releases Quiztones Ear Training App

Quiztones ear training appMac and iOS software developer Audiofile Engineering, following their acquisition of Quiztones, has released an ear training app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Quiztones uses a series of quizzes to aid in ear training exercises, designed to improve abilities in the areas of mixing, EQ setting, eliminating feedback, prevent noise buildup in mixes and eliminate the need for frequency sweeping. The app includes simple frequency tones and instrument sounds, such as frequency-altered drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass, and vocals.

Quiztones founder Dan Comerchero, who joined Audiofile Engineering with the acquisition, says “As musicians and audio professionals, we spend a great deal of time analyzing frequencies, whether we’re adjusting them for a good mix in the studio, for immediate release or trying to get rid of feedback on stage. Ear training with Quiztones can make this a lot faster and easier by eliminating trial and error methods of frequency identification such as sweeping.”

Quiztones requires iOS 4.0 or later on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and is available through the App Store for $2.99.
