Slipknot Performs First Show Since Paul Gray’s Passing

SlipknotSlipknot took the stage for the first time yesterday since the passing of bassist Paul Gray, who died on May 24th, 2010. The group performed at the Apollo Stage in Athens, Greece, as part of the Sonisphere festival at Terravibe Park.

“It’s been a long time,” frontman Corey Taylor announced to the audience. “Hello Athens, how are you? As you know tonight is very emotional show for us but it is not, NOT, a negative day. It is a positive day. A day for celebration. This is our first show – with you. Are you having a good time and will you celebrate with us today?”

Gray’s mask, jumpsuit and bass were on stage, and the band performed in their matching jumpsuits and masks from their past.

Former Slipknot guitarist Donnie Steele played bass with the group, but reportedly was not in view.
