The Who Announces Quadrophenia: The Director’s Cut

Quadrophenia: The Director's CutThe Who has released details of their upcoming deluxe box set of the group’s classic 1973 rock opera, Quadrophenia. Quadrophenia: The Director’s Cut, to be released on November 15, includes a remaster of the original album, previously unheard demos from Pete Townshend, including songs that didn’t make it on the album, an 8-track 5.1 sound DVD and a hard-bound book featuring photographs, personal notes and other previously unreleased material.

Quadrophenia was the Who’s sixth studio album, and was the group’s second rock opera, featuring bassist John Entwistle, drummer Keith Moon, guitarist Pete Townshend and vocalist Roger Daltrey.

The double album was originally released with a gatefold jacket and thick booklet including the lyrics, the text version of the album’s storyline, with supporting photos. MCA records re-issued the album as a 2-CD set in 1985, with a booklet including the lyrics and story, but without the photos. The album was once again re-issued in 1996, with the complete booklet offered in the smaller CD size format.
