Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings Announce “Back in the UK” Tour

Bill Wyman's Rhythm KingsBill Wyman will be taking his Rhythm Kings on an extensive tour of the UK this Fall, beginning in October and wrapping in December. The “Back In the UK Tour” kicks off at the Grand Theatre in Swansea and snakes across the entire country, visiting 36 venues in all.

The tour coincides with a new box set from the band, due October 25th, which will include a five discs of their collected works from 1997 to present. Wyman started the Rhythm Kings after 30 years of playing with the Rolling Stones, and says the band is extremely diverse.

“I discovered that I could write songs in the old styles, because I would analyze the way they did the arrangements, the way the instrumentation sounded, the way people sang and the slang they used for the lyrics,” he said of his writing. “And in the end, the track, when we’d finish it, would sound like a song from the ‘30s, ‘40s or ‘50s. It’s almost like an archeological dig into music. But there are very few bands that have the depth and versatility of my band in doing a total mixture of music. We play blues, reggae, soul music, gospel-y stuff, jump music, early rock ‘n’ roll, we do ‘70s stuff — it’s a whole mixture. We can do anything.”
