Tony Levin Releases New Album with David Torn and Alan White

Levin Torn WhiteTony Levin is at it once again, teaming up with other powerhouse musicians on a new album that is as unique as they come.

The first-time collaboration of Levin on bass and Stick, along with guitarist David Torn and drummer Alan White of Yes, has released Levin Torn White, an album the band describes as “a collaborative beatdown of original progressive rock instrumentals by three legendary musicians.”

In an interview with the Examiner, Levin describes how the band came together.

“Well, I’ve known Alan and admired him for some time, but never got to do a project with him. (Not counting the “YES” album where we both played with different incarnations of the group, but not together!),” Levin said. “David is an old friend and co-conspirator… since he had me and Bill Bruford lend a Progressive Rock flavor to his Cloud About Mercury album. And we did a few recordings and tours together with Bruford Levin Upper Extremities. When I realized from Alan’s ideas, and my reactions, how radical the direction was for this music, David seemed not only the best choice, but pretty much the ONLY choice for guitar!”

The album was recorded over a one year period, in various locations around the world, including Seattle, WA, Woodstock, NY and New Plymouth, New Zealand.

The 14-track release was co-produced and arranged by Scott Schorr, who plays piano and keyboards on the album.
