Queen Launches Official Tribute Band with Open Auditions

Queen ExtravaganzaQueen drummer Roger Taylor has announced a North American talent search to put together an official Queen tribute band for a tour next year, called the Queen Extravaganza.

Auditions are open to bassists, vocalists, guitarists, drummers and keyboardists.

“The Queen Extravaganza will not be a traditional tribute show,” Taylor explains. “It’s a brand-new show specially designed to enable fans to celebrate the music of Queen in a heart-stopping event. It’s going to be spectacular. It’s going to be very visual, there are going to be some shocks and some tremendous surprises. It will be a rock celebration in the royal tradition.”

The audition process includes two video rounds and a final round to be held in Los Angeles, California in early December. From all the contestants, the judging panel will pick at least one winning musician to join the band as they tour the U.S. starting mid-2012.
