Korn Announces New Album and Tour

Korn: The Path of TotalityKorn is releasing their tenth studio album, The Path of Totality on December 6, 2011. But the band states this one is unlike any of the previous nine.

The new album is an experimental one by the band, which includes Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu on bass. For The Path of Totality, the band explores new territory through collaborations with leading dubstep and electronic producers including Skrillex, Excision, Datsik, Noisia, Kill the Noise and 12th Planet.

“The title The Path of Totality refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time,” Korn frontman Jonathan Davis said. “That’s how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I’m not sure it could ever happen again.”

The band’s single, “Get Up!”, with Skrillex, was a big hit over the summer, with over 150,000 downloads. The tune started as an experiment, but quickly grew into an entire album’s worth of tracks.

The album will be offered in two separate releases. One will be a standard CD, with 11 tracks, and a special edition CD set will be offered with bonus tracks and a DVD of “The Encounter”, Korn’s full-length concert video shot in the middle of a 900-foot long crop circle in Bakersfield.

Korn has planned a tour in support of The Path of Totality, with the first leg planned throughout the U.S. The tour will feature dubstep DJ’s Datsik and Downlink, as well as newcomer Dutch Dub-rockers Dope D.O.D.
