The Wayman Tisdale Story Released

The Wayman Tisdale Story ReleasedThe late Wayman Tisdale, the NBA star-turned-bassist who enjoyed success in both careers, is now the focus of a newly released feature-length documentary. The Wayman Tisdale Story recounts the life of the former basketball player and jazz bassist who lost his battle with bone cancer in 2009.

With interviews ranging from Michael Jordan to Dave Koz to Toby Keith, it’s clear that Tisdale touched many lives during both careers.

“He was very dedicated in being a complete person, and basketball didn’t engulf his whole, whole life,” Jordan stated.

Tisdale was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame this month, with Marcus Miller performing and speaking at the event.

Accompanying the film is a 13-track CD of the bassist’s tunes, including a previously unreleased song “Slam Dunk,” produced by Jeff Lorber.

  1. Wayman Tisdale. This man’s story will make you smile, and break your heart, too. He was immensely talented, being both an NBA star and a high-level, smokin’ bass player. He also loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart. I cried the day he died. Check out his story. Blessings.

  2. Big Up’s to Wayman Tisdale! NBA Star..Bass Player Extraordinaire.. chritian Soldier.

  3. I watched him as a teenager and his death hit me like a load of bricks. What a man, what a performer, what a life.
