Mr. Big to Release a Live Acoustic Album

Mr. Big: Live from the Living RoomMr. Big, anchored by bassist Billy Sheehan has announced they’ll be releasing Live from the Living Room in February, 2012. The album is a unique one for the band, who decided to do an acoustic album featuring ten of Mr. Big’s songs.

Mr. Big’s original line-up of Sheehan, vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert and drummer Pat Torpey reunited in 2009, twenty years after the release of their debut album. The band toured Japan following their announcement, and produced a live album and DVD from that effort, Budokan: Reunion Tour 2009.

The band returned to the studio and released What If… in early 2011. During a promotional trip in Japan for that new album, Mr. Big was invited to the WOWOW TV Studios in Tokyo to perform. The band decided they wanted to do something they’ve never done before for the show, and that’s when the idea of an acoustic set came to be. While Sheehan and Gilbert play electric on a few songs, the complete performance was mostly acoustic, including a string quintet.

Live from the Living Room will be released in Europe on February 24th, 2012, and on February 28th, 2012 in the U.S.
