Boulder Creek Introduces JB and RB Series Electric Basses

Boulder Creek launched two new lines of electric basses at NAMM this year with the JB and RD series. The two models are aimed at jazz and rock styles, respectively.

This new line of solid body basses is a first for Boulder Creek, who is known for their acoustic basses.

Boulder Creek JB and RB Series Electric Basses

Available in 4-string, 5-string and fretless configurations, the JB series basses feature chambered bodies with a “B” hole cutout. The basses are built with spalted maple tops, mahogany backs, maple necks, and rosewood fingerboards.

The company included a pair of single coil jazz-style pickups for the design. Hardware includes a black chrome bridge and tuners.

The RB series features a mahogany body with a Zebra wood top. Similar to the JB series, the construction includes a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. For pickups, the line includes dual soapbars with a coil tap. They also include an active preamp.

The Boulder Creek JB and RB basses are available now with prices ranging from $489 to $499. For more, visit the Boulder Creek website.

  1. Wow! They look amazing for the price!

  2. GASin’ hard for a JB fretless. If they are as well-built as they look, then we’re in for a real treat.

  3. sweet bass, amazing and well built!

  4. These are awesome. I was the demo guy at Winter NAMM 2012 when these were launched, and I was really impressed with how they looked and played. That along with the price range made everyone I played for take notice. Awesome job Boulder Creek!

  5. I just own Boulder Creek Acoustic Bass, It’s amazing.
Massive acoustic volume, Build-in tuner, 3band EQ, 1 trs out, 1 xlr out.
Neck is a bit chunky. but for the Acoustic style this is the best choice to go.
So I plan to give this new electric series a look…badly I have to sell some of my bass to have a room.

  6. Custom bass luthiers and bass manufacturers who try and gouge us with your “custom” basses take note. We can buy nice basses without waiting a year and paying thousands of dollars! I am in my glory!
