Snarky Puppy Releases “groundUP”

Snarky Puppy: groundUPBrooklyn-based instrumental group Snarky Puppy has released their sixth album, groundUP, on Ropeadope Records.

Led by bassist Michael League, the collection of musicians recorded the album live in fellow bassist Matt Garrison’s Shapeshifter Lab in front of a 40-person studio audience.

As with 2010’s Tell Your Friends, the release is a CD/DVD combo that includes video of the group’s funky, jazzy, raw, and eclectic performances.

Luckily, the band has also posted some of the video on YouTube.

“To celebrate the official release of groundUP and our upcoming release tour, here’s the last tune from the DVD, ‘Quarter Master’ (written for a crazy little all-night deli in New Orleans),” the band wrote on their Facebook page. “Priceless Shaun Martin stuff at the end.”

Prepare to get down.
