Sharay Reed: Chicago Gospel Musician Jam

I stumbled across the video by random chance.

And then I watched it about six times in a row.

This is Sharay Reed, defining the phrase “laying it down”.

I love how the audience reacts to Sharay’s lines too, especially around the 2-minute mark. There’s even guys with basses in the audience!

  5. Been watching this video for a LONG time… And I still go back to it when I feel like my chops are tight… I get schooled in 5 minutes…

  6. Good post! Funny thing is, this isn’t even the best one! There was an older version of this at the SAME church where he just totally BLAZED this groove even harder! For some reason, it’s not available anymore. :-( Either way, always great to hear my buddy lay it down as only he can!

  7. Love to watch people play when they have the “spirit”… Its so cool to hear a bass line go from Stevie Wonder,
through Pino Palladino and out through this dude. I keep playing it too… Keeping my ears open for more Sharay Reed!

  8. Makes a skeptic want to go to church…

  9. This video makes me just want to hang my bass back on the wall… I LOVE THIS kind of groove!
