The new case has a large exterior pocket and an EVA-reinforced multi-pocket for easily accessible storage. Adjustable padded back-pack straps are included and can be hidden away when not in use while the handle itself is the company’s Zero-G palm-contoured style. New features include a second zipper on the front pocket and a D-ring for attaching after-market straps.

The interior of the case has a neck brace suspension system built consisting of a locking strap and an dense foam block to prevent shifting when the case is bumped. It’s also lined with plush, quilted blue velvet.

  1. Love my RB cases! I have this case and it’s the most protective soft case I’ve ever tried I use it primarily when I know that I may have to gate check my bass (smaller planes on the itinerary).

    • I’ve never checked my basses.. Always an issue/scene..

    • @[1348897874:2048:Sj Rehn] I don’t check them at the counter. I try to bring it on board (usually succeed) but, occasionally will GATE check it, which is different than just checking it. Last on, first off and not handled multiple times or stacked with other stuff on carts, etc.. If you can’t get it on, gate checking it is the way to go. I never check underneath because I’ve had too many problems.

    • Yes, absolutely never at the counter! But gate is ok? Like you said, sometimes we board smaller planes with less room..

    • I’ve been lucky at least. I’ve gate checked at least a few dozen times and have never had a problem. It’s gotten MUCH easier to bring a bass on board these days, tho. Many airlines will now even let you board early to insure you get an overhead bin. But if it just doesn’t fit and there are no seats available? gotta check it. No problems yet but I’m sure, one day, SOMETHING will happen. That’s why I went through so many gig bags looking for that “best of both worlds”. The RB-4 fits in most regular sized overhead bins but is also pretty impact proof.
