The Who Announce “Quadrophenia” Tour – First North American Tour in Four Years

The Who Quadrophenia Tour - 2012/2013The Who have announced a major North American tour celebrating their 1973 double album Quadrophenia, which they will play in its entirety each night in addition to a selection of their greatest songs. Founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend have tapped bassist Pino Palladino to fill the enormous shoes of John Entwistle, who passed away ten years ago.

The rest of the band consists of drummer (and son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr) Zak Starkey, guitarist (and younger brother to Pete) Simon Townshend, keyboardists Loren Godl and Chris Stainton and musical director Frank Simes. The 36-date concert series will be their first North American Tour in four years.

Quadrophenia was The Who’s sixth album and features the popular songs “Love Reign o’er Me,” “5:15,” and bassist favorite “The Real Me.” The album’s title comes from a variation on the popular usage of the word schizophrenia and exemplifies the four varying personalities of each of the original band members.

“In 1972 I was twenty-eight, writing about London and Brighton in 1963 and 1964 when the band was just starting,” explains guitarist Pete Townshend. “I was still young enough to remember how it felt to be sixteen or seventeen, and at war with my parents, bosses and authority. I could still remember that feeling of struggling to fit in, something that happened to me when I was even younger, around fourteen, and everyone around me seemed to have got their lives on track. This is such a universal experience for young people that it has echoed.”

Tickets for the general public go on sale July 27th. VIP packages will also be available, including special seats, invitation to The Who’s VIP preshow sound check, limited edition autographed memorabilia, preshow parties, VIP preferred parking, exclusive VIP merchandise and more.
