Rich Brown: Solo Bass Beauty

Facebook friend Michael J. Benham shared this solo bass video of bassist Rich Brown, saying “Just found this guy. Quite amazed that he has remained under the radar.”

This solo piece is just beautiful, with amazing technique and a sound that makes you think Rich is using a delay (but isn’t).

We haven’t featured Rich in a long time (last time was in 2009). We’ll pay more attention now, and look forward to what he does next.

If you have a video to share (one you’ve done or one by someone else), we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a note at [email protected].

  1. he’s from toronto, you guys should really check him out. he’s pretty well known in the toronto jazz scene.

  2. Uhhhh… that’s it? Okay NoTreble, you need to show me more of his stuff because that didn’t do very much for me.

  3. There’s a lot in the works right now, guys and girls. I’m currently working on a solo bass record to be released by (or hopefully before) January. Also, look for a new album from my band rinsethealgorithm in March or April of next year. Thanks so much to the friends at no treble for your support.
    Peace,

  4. Cari-Canadian Living Legend.

  5. Glad to see some new stuff on youtube, rich (& can’t wait to hear some new recordings as well!!).
For the un-initiated, check out rich’s work with Dapp Theory, Rinsethealgorithm & AutoRickshaw. He’s been one of my favorite players for years now. Beautiful guy, too. Very cool, humble and a complete bad ass!

  6. sheeeeeit is that a Ken Lawrence? Either way, great solo, great tone, nicely nicely!

  7. Seemed kinda lame to me…

  8. Any of Rich’s stuff with Rudresh Mahanthappa is absolutely killer… including the tune Killer from Samdhi.
