Marcus Miller has posted an update on Facebook for the first time since his tour bus crash in Switzerland two weeks ago. His manager Bibi Green had been keeping everyone updated, but the post was the bassist’s own reassurance of his safety.
“I’m seriously humbled by the outpouring of love, concern, positive energy and prayers we’ve received since the accident last week (our tour bus hit the center divide and flipped onto it’s side on a highway in Switzerland). My band and crew are recovering well – lots of sore ribs, bumps, and bruises but all heal-able,” he reported.
The accident occurred Sunday, November 25th as the group was en route to their concert in Hengelo in the Netherlands from Monte Carlo. The bus driver was killed in the accident, which also left the rest of the passengers in the hospital.
“Man, it was crazy,” Miller continued, “But we got to see the true character of my group. I’m so proud of every member of my band and crew. Finding our way off of that overturned bus, not really knowing what had happened or what was going to happen (was there a chance that the bus would explode?) Each and every person was concerned not just for themselves but for the entire team. Things like this make you take a minute and reflect on how many blessings have to happen just to get you from one day to the next – or to get your band from one city to the next – I’m grateful for each new day we get and each trip that we return safely from. Please – each time you get into a car/bus/train/plane, take a second to reflect on the serious risks of traveling in motorized vehicles. We usually take these for granted but, whether it’s an international trip or just down to the store.. When you get where you’re going, you may want to give a little thanks… So glad that we have more life to live and more music to create.”
