Long overdue, but it has been done. Rush will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
It never seemed very important to the trio on whether or not this day would come. This rings loud in what is one epic response from Geddy Lee:
“It’s a terrific honor and we’ll show up smiling… It made my mom happy, so that’s worth it,” he told Rolling Stone. “It was a cause [Rush fans] championed. I’m very relieved for them and we share this honor with them, for sure.”
The band’s official statement also included mention of the members’ parents:
“We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 3 of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our moms for voting 6000 times!”
Rush will be joined by Public Enemy, Heart, Randy Newman, Albert King, Heart and Donna Summer as new inductees. The ceremony will be held April 18, 2013 in Los Angeles.
