Black Sabbath: “Snowblind”, Live 1975
With all the talk of the new Black Sabbath album this year, I’ve been geeking out on tons of old videos of Geezer Butler and the band.
Here’s one of my favorite songs, “Snowblind”, live in 1975. Geezer really rocks out on this one, white ’70s pants and all.
I am headed to Bozeman MT in Feb…ready to strap on my board and get snow blind! How appropriate!
Anyone know what kinda bass he’s playing?
Hard to tell, although it kind of looks like a S.D. Curlee.
You can get some better glimpses of it in this vid

Definitely not SD Curlee, but it IS definitely an 8-string which I never knew he played! Wonder if the octave strings are even strung up on it….
Update: It might be a John Birch, but I can’t find pics to confirm…
This should be the concert with the Rickenbacker 4008 :)
Hamer is my guess. I think he started building in 73′ and that’s the first brand I think of when you’re talking 8 or 12 string basses.
What bass is Geezer playing? Anyone?
can’t tell although I liked the tone of the Ric he played a couple of years later
NEVER HEARD OF THEM UNTIL TODAY. I like them going to buy there next album.
Big fan of Geezer!
8 string bass?? !!!!
