G&L Introduces MJ-4 Bass Guitar

G&L MJ-4 Bass Guitar

G&L has introduced the MJ-4 Bass, a bass with a familiar feel that the company says is part of an evolution of bass features. The model sports a pair of G&L’s new Bi-Coil Alnico V pickups, which they say looks like a classic single-coil but actually contains two side-by-side coils configured in series-humbucking mode. The pickups are matched for a “specially tuned” version of the M-spec preamp.

Dubbed the MJ-spec, the 18-volt preamp offers volume and pan controls, as well as a 3-band EQ with +/- 14dB and center detents. Its circuit board is spec’ed out with an LF442 chip, 100v poly capacitors, and 1% metal film resistors.

Other features on the MJ-4 include an alder or swamp ash body, a hard rock maple neck with rosewood or maple fingerboard, and G&L hardware. The G&L MJ-4 is available with an MSRP of $1,700. For more info, check out the G&L Guitars website.
