Applied Microphone Technology has released the S26i, a new microphone mounting system for acoustic bass. Designed and manufactured in the USA, the system is the company’s second generation system that hooks onto the tail piece.
“The S26i is really our 2nd tail piece mounting system,” the company explains. “The original was intended for the player that wanted to leave the microphone on the instrument while traveling or packing it in a case. The S26i is meant for the player that is moving the microphone from bass to bass on tour or just wants a quick and easy installation on the tail piece.”
The S26i features a fully adjustable gooseneck system for flexibility in microphone placement and a tail piece mounting clamp to secure the system. The electret-condenser microphone specifically designed for upright bass and have a very tight pickup pattern to offer high rejection to surrounding noise while accurately reproducing the bass’s tone. AMT’s Disconnect Cable Technology is included to allow for easy removal or replacement of the cable. Its signal is fed through an included inline preamp, which is housed in anodized aviation aluminum.
