Pekka Pohjola Group: “Nipistys” Live

No Treble reader Aleksi Aaltonen shared this video with us, saying “Here’s a great video of the absolutely best ever Finnish bassist Pekka Pohjola. This guy isn’t yet on your page for some reason ;).”

After just a handful of seconds of watching this video, we realized we needed to fix this oversight immediately. Here’s the Pekka Pohjola Group performing the tune “Nipistys” live in Helsinki, Finland in 1980.

Thanks Aleski!

  1. so many great players I’ve never heard of…this takes me right back to highschool (showing my age here) and all the Al DiMeola albums I wore the grooves off of.

  2. Interesting I just noticed the mod on his p-bass adding a thumb rest all across the bridge area. My Variax bass has that but I had never seen one before that came along…there truly are no new ideas are there?

  3. Return to Forevever. Kansas Allman Bros. , that Focus euro sound; pretty good.

  4. Here is what Wikipedia(English) knows about this great bass player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pekka_Pohjola
