Fender Announces Modern Player 2.0 Basses

Fender has upgraded its Modern Player series of instruments including updates to the Jazz Basses in the line and the introduction of a new model called the Dimension Bass. The new instruments keep in step with the rest of the series, which offers unique designs at entry-level pricing.

The new Modern Player Jazz Bass and Jazz Bass V feature a pair of redesigned humbuckers with a new 4-position rotary pickup switcher. There are four pickup combinations available: both middle and bridge pickups, the middle pickup with the outer coil of the bridge pickup, the bridge pickup with the outer coil of the middle pickup, and the outer coil of middle pickup with the outer coil of the bridge pickup. Fender Modern Player Dimension Bass

The Dimension features a distinct body shape and single three-coil Triplebucker pickup to make it stand out from the rest of the company’s 4-string lineup. Similar to the Jazz Basses, it has a rotary pickup selector to switch between every combination of the pickup’s three coils. It’s built with an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. Other features include a 4-saddle Hi-Mass bridge, knurled flat-top control knobs, and an easy-access truss rod adjustment wheel.

  1. nothing new, maybe they will do it their way, but still nothing fresh enough to contest with jazz/precission basses :)

  2. Lol… Ibanez ATK ripoff @Fender Dimension Bass xP.

  3. I love my first generation modern player jazz, am really intrigued into finding out how good the mixtures are with the rotary switch.

  4. The original Dimension basses were much cooler.

  5. I can see the posts on Talkbass now: “Which is better: a P, a J, or a D”?

  6. Loving the modern player p/ups, very hot bar-esque… Now just to fit them to a real jazz.

  7. Don’t do it to me fender, :( gas for the 5er or the 4er jazz

  8. I love all the modern players 1.0 and 2.0 I just wish they were american.

  9. The Dimension bass looks pretty interesting, I much would rather the modern player jaguar bass or the telecaster bass though.

  10. That fiver is worth a look..

  11. Seems that they are not going to reissue the Roscoe Beck Signature, to my disapointment. Looks like the Bill Lawrence design for the pickups, but are they wounded as those on the RB’s? if so, just a parallel/series switch to add and it’s fine for me!

  12. I tested out the Dimension bass…sounds and plays very good for the price, but I want to point out that the “rails” you see on the pickup is really just a plastic cover. Kinda built on the cheap side.

  13. Fender you are paying for the name I have played one few time and did not think it sounded all the great like my BC Rich better……………..
