Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2014 Nominees

Rock & Roll Hall of FameThe Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the list of nominees for the 2014 induction, and the bass world is well represented. Half of the artists have been nominated before, with several returning from last year’s picks, while the other half are all first-time nominees. This includes Linda Ronstadt, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Yes, Link Wray, The Zombies, and Nirvana. Artists nominated again this year include LL Cool J, KISS, N.W.A., Cat Stevens, Deep Purple, The Meters, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and Chic.

“This year’s nominees represent the broad definition of ‘rock ‘n’ roll’ and include an array of artists whose fans are deeply passionate about the possibility of induction,” says Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.”

The nominees will be voted on by 600 of the Rock Hall of Fame’s members, comprised of previous living inductees, musicians, historians, critics and music industry members. Returning from last year is the fan’s ballot. Fans can vote for their five favorite artists from the list on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website.

  1. You know how you know the farce that is the rock n roll hall of fame has no legitimacy? Deep Purple, KISS, and Yes are being nominated at the same time as LL Cool J and NWA. What a joke.
