Gov’t Mule Releases “Shout!”

Gov’t Mule: Shout! For Gov’t Mule’s tenth studio album, the band decided to do something never done before. Shout!, which is their debut on the Blue Note Label, is a two-disc set.

Disc one includes the band’s eleven brand new songs, while disc two features an all-star lineup of vocalists performing their interpretations of the band’s new songs. The special guests on disc two include Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glenn Hughes, Jim James, Myles Kennedy, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Vintage Trouble’s Ty Taylor and Steve Winwood.

“We’ve always taken a non-traditional approach to everything we’ve done, and it works for us,” guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes said. “One of things we’re very proud of about this record is that all the songs stand up for themselves and have their own personality. Hopefully, hearing another singer interpret them helps shine even more of a light on the songs and somewhere in that picture people get a glimpse of what Gov’t Mule does.”

Shout! is the second album with bassist Jorgen Carlsson, who lays a solid foundation for the group with dead-on grooves and righteous tone. The rest of the band is filled out by Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, and keyboardist Danny Louis.

Shout! is out now on CD, vinyl and digital formats (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
