Adam Clayton: New U2 Studio Album in 2014

Adam Clayton

U2’s Adam Clayton has revealed that the iconic alternative rockers will have a new album out in early 2014. The bassist announced the news on the Irish radio station 98 FM during the Dermot and Dave Show.

“We hope to have it finished very, very soon. And it will be out sometime early next year,” Clayton said. “But it’s a very exciting bunch of songs right at the moment… it’s just about to be finished, so it’s hard to know which way they’ll go. We’re trying to get these 12 songs absolutely right and get them finished by the end of November, and then we can kind of enjoy Christmas.”

When the disc jockeys asked how the album was shaping up, Clayton called it a “bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity of U2 of the last ten years.” The release will be their first studio album since the 2009 release, No Line on the Horizon.
