Bassist Gwil Sainsbury has quit the English indie rock band Alt-J, according to a post on the band’s Facebook page.

“We’re sad to say goodbye to Gwil – the last 5 years with him in the band have been fantastic and we are all proud of our achievements together,” the post reads. “However our enthusiasm to continue working on our second album is as strong as ever and we’re looking forward to everything the future holds for alt-J.”

Sainsbury founded the band with current members Joe Newman, Thom Green, and Gus Unger-Hamilton in 2007 while in school at Leeds University. He’s featured on all of the group’s releases including their only studio album, An Awesome Wave. No replacement has been announced.
