Nashville Pussy Releases “Up The Dosage”

Nashville Pussy: Up the DosageUp the Dosage, Nashville Pussy’s first studio record since 2009’s From Hell to Texas, is being called the hard rockers’ band’s Back in Black by frontman Blaine Cartwright.

Now, this record isn’t an album of mourning and rebirth following the death of a member like AC/DC’s classic album, but it is the first on-record appearance of bassist Bonnie Buitrago, who has been with the band since 2011 and eventually replaced bassist Karen Cuda.

In February 2013, guitarist Ruyter Suys told the Ventura County Star that Buitrago has been in the band’s world since 2000, when she was 20 years old. “She was really young and she hadn’t had any experience and we were scared to take her out on the road,” he said. “So now, 13 years later, she was cool enough to let us take her back.”

Supersuckers bassist Eddie Spaghetti, a friend of Cartwright’s, also contributed to the record, co-writing three songs and helping with track arrangements.

The record this version of Nashville Pussy has produced is getting some high marks, with Oregon Music News calling it the band’s magnum opus, describing it as “a sleazy, heavy grooved, explosive and boisterous effort that encompasses elements of ‘Let it Bleed,’ ‘Ace of Spades,’ ‘Never Mind the Bullocks’ and ‘Highway to Hell.’ It’s that magnificent.”

Up the Dosage is out now on CD, vinyl and digital formats (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
