Fernando Lamadrid: La casa de las notas escondidas

If you’ve been a No Treble reader for a while, you’ll likely recognize the name Fernando Lamadrid, thanks to the video we shared in August 2013 of his tune “Mollete Express” (this was such a great tune, we even published a transcription by Stuart Clayton).

Fernando is back with a new video that shows off another side, with the tune “La casa de las notas escondidas” (“The house of the hidden notes”).

What a wonderful composition and performance!

This cat is actually at the top of my ‘drop everything & listen’ list of bass players that NT has turned me on to in the last year or so. I LOVE & am ALWAYS inspired by how and what Fernando plays. Mollete Express has been a fun (and tricky) piece for me to work on. Brotha man rules in my book!

My Spanish is no bueno, but I think a better translated title would be “The Frets with the Hidden Notes”, in reference to the harmonics.

I live really close to Fernando´s neighborhood and I have seen him live a couple of times. So sad he has more recognition outside Spain than here. So fucking sad.
