Toto Releases “Toto XIV” with Founding Bassist David Hungate

Toto: Toto XIVToto XIV marks the return of bassist David Hungate, but it is also being released on the heels of a tragedy: Mike Porcaro, who remained the group’s official bassist as he struggled with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), succumbed to his illness earlier this month at the age of 59.

Hungate came back to the band in 2014, stepping into the touring bassist slot held by Nathan East since 2010, which was the same year the band announced Porcaro’s illness. Hungate is one of Toto’s founding members and played with the band from 1977 to 1982 on hits like “Hold the Line,” “Rosanna,” and “Africa.”

The new album is the band’s 2006 offering, Falling In Between, which was also the last studio album to feature Porcaro’s playing.

I agree. I like what I heard. Glad David Hungate is back with them. Wish It was on better sircumstances, tho. Still can’t believe Mike is gone. May he RIP. I guess him & Jeff got some catching up to do. I hope Toto’s album will do well. From what I heard so far, I think it will.?
