Kamasi Washington with Miles Mosley: Re Run Home, Live

If you’ve been following No Treble for a while, you know that Miles Mosley is doing amazing things with the double bass. I recently caught Mosley on tour with saxophone genius Kamasi Washington and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. The band’s chemistry was the stuff of legends.

Here’s a great clip of Kamasi and the West Coast Get Down playing through “Re Run Home” from his latest album, The Epic, live on KCRW. After supporting the groove, Mosley takes a thrilling solo starting at the 8:34 mark that utilizes some gnarly effects and slick bow work.

Man, Miles Is amazing! I’m so excited to see them play on the Santa Monica Pier Twilight Concert this Thursday! And it’s a free show! Even better is that they’re opening for Rebirth Brass Band so double the fun!

I agree, Miles is the most innovative bassist playing today. He is brilliant doing what he does with the pedal board but don’t be fooled, this guy can PLAY the bass acoustically so beautifully it’ll bring tears to your eyes. Whoever thinks there’s nothing new to listen to simply hasn’t heard him yet. Check out his web site, he’s incredible.
