Iron Maiden Returns With “The Book of Souls”

Iron Maiden: The Book of SoulsIron Maiden, featuring the legendary Steve Harris on bass, has released its 16th studio album, The Book of Souls.

Harris, a founding member of the band, co-wrote six songs on the record and has the sole writing credit on another. “We approached this album in a different way to how we’ve recorded previously,” Harris said. “A lot of the songs were actually written while we were there in the studio and we rehearsed and recorded them straight away while they were still fresh, and I think that immediacy really shows in the songs, they have almost a live feel to them, I think. I’m very proud of The Book Of Souls, we all are, and we can’t wait for our fans to hear it, and especially to take it out on the road next year.”

The band has also announced that lead singer Bruce Dickinson is currently training for the qualifications needed to fly the Boeing 747-400 jet the band plans to use for its 2016 world tour, which is expected to begin in February 2016 in the United States (specific dates are expected to be announced soon.) In a nod to the band’s undead mascot, Eddie, the plane is being called Ed Force One.

The Book of Souls is available on CD (deluxe edition with two CDs and a hardbound book), vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
