Sadowsky Unveils Single Cut 24 Fret 5-String Bass
When we interviewed Chip Shearin last year, he let us in on the scoop that he was working with Roger Sadowsky on a special project. That project came to light at the 2016 NAMM Show with the unveiling of the Sadowsky Single Cut 24 Fret 5-String Bass.
“Co-designed with bassist Chip Shearin by both myself and Lisa Hahn, this model features a single cutaway chambered body with a 24 fret bolt on neck,” Sadowsky writes. “The first version of this bass, which we will bring to NAMM, features our soapbar pickups in our bridge forward “modern” locations as well as our mid boost circuit. It will be available with all of our normal wood options.”
The bass is built with a swamp ash or alder body that is chambered for lighter weight and increased resonance. Its maple neck can be topped with either a maple or rosewood fingerboard, and the five-string nut width can be 1¾″ or 1?″.
Its Sadowsky Soapbar pickups are matched to a Will Lee preamp complete with a switchable midboost and trim pot. Hardware include Hipshot Ultralight Tuning Gears and a Sadowsky chrome-plated brass bridge with quick release.
The Sadowsky Single Cut 24 Fret 5-String is available for order with a base price of $5,500, as further options are available.
