Orange Amplification Launches O Bass Guitar
Orange Amplification took to NAMM to launch the O Bass, a vintage-styled bass that comes in Teardrop Sunburst, Off-Black and Orange finishes. The bass first made an appearance at the 2014 Winter NAMM show as a demonstrator piece, but came to production after videos of the instrument spread online.
The company describes the O Bass as having a “distinctively vintage sonic mojo – a well-balanced bass response with a warm mid-range.”
It’s built with an okoumé body with a basswood veneer and A.B.S. binding as well as a maple neck topped with a rosewood fretboard. Orange fits the bass with a custom wound split-coil humbucker with tone and volume controls. Other features include a nickel four-saddle bridge and open gear tunings.
The Orange O Bass ships with a padded Orange gigbag and an extra pickguard. It will be available soon with a street price around $400.
