Meet Remy Gail, a bassist who grew up in a musical environment, but didn’t take up bass until later in life. She keeps busy in a gigging band that plays around the tri-state area around her home town of Franklin Lakes, NJ. Remy is No Treble’s reader in the spotlight this week, and here’s her story…

Bio:

From the day she was born, Remy has always had a passion for music. Her mother is trained in classical piano and for the first half of her life, Remy grew up surrounded by wonderful music and very talented musicians. Remy fiddled around (horribly) on piano and guitar, but always failed because she never cared enough to practice, she was always so content with listening… until one day, when she was in her mid 20’s, she was bored and feeling unfulfilled. She had just purchased the new White Stripes album, the song “Seven Nation Army” came on and in that instant Remy realized that the instrument she’d been missing all her life was the bass! That same day she went to her local music shop, purchased a righty Ibanez red starter bass (shes a lefty, but figured what the hell), recruited some of the best teachers to show her the way… And the rest is history.

Remy Gail rocks!! I’ve seen her perform live and she nailed every song. She’s mastered the bass in such a short time that it blows your mind…..you’d swear she’s been playing all her life. Best of luck with your first album coming out in June. Enjoy the ride!!!!
