The Descendents Release First Album in More Than a Decade
The Descendents have released their first album in a dozen years.
Hypercaffium Spazzinate is the band’s seventh album and the first released by the punk band since 2004’s Cool to Be You. Karl Alvarez handles bass on the album, as he has through the band’s existence (and its several hiatuses and reformations) since 1986.
The Descendents also influenced a host of bands, like Blink-182, NOFX, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, The Offspring and Rise Against.
The band acknowledges its long history and age.“Since the dawn of rock-and-roll every band’s tried to pretend they exist in the age group of 18 to 35, no matter how old they get,” Alvarez said. “But this band’s very honest about the fact that we’re not teenagers anymore.”
In true punk fashion, the tunes are fairly short and sweet. “Victim of Me” clocks in at 1:37.
Hypercaffium Spazzinate is available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
