Quilter Amps has unveiled the Bass Block 800, a bass amp that delivers up to 800 watts while weighing in at just 3.75 pounds. The micro-sized amp sets itself apart by being completely designed by Quilter, the company says.
“Unlike many of today’s compact bass amps, the Bass Block 800 is not simply an existing consumer-grade power module married to a pre-amp, but a comprehensive power system that responds dynamically and musically to the player’s instrument and touch.”
The Bass Block 800 has active and passive inputs as well as a front-facing headphone output. After the gain stage, the amp has a unique EQ section with a Depth knob that acts as a 100Hz Hi-Q bass control and a Contour knob, which offers a low-mid scoop, flat, or a treble cut contour. A two-stage limiter prevents bottoming out.
Its feature set also has XLR line in and out jacks, dual 1/4-inch speaker and Speakon™ outputs, and a universal power supply. The first 100 Quilter Bass Block 800 amplifiers are shipping with a limited edition certificate “Poseidon certificates” commemorating the launch of the product and signed by Pat Quilter. It will be available with a suggested price of $599.
