Written by by music journalist Tony Bacon and UK bass retailer and distributor Barry Moorhouse, the book includes interviews with bass makers and talks about major brands such as Brands featured in the book include Alembic, Danelectro, Epiphone, Fender, Fodera, Gibson, Hofner, Ibanez, Lakland, Line 6, Music Man, Peavey, Rickenbacker, Sadowsky, Spector, Squier, Steinberger, Wal, Warwick, and Yamaha.

It also details bass developments of the 1960s and ’70s as well as the more recent increased interest in the five-string bass.

Additionally, the book looks at bassists like Stanley Clarke, Flea, James Jamerson, and Jaco Pastorius, and includes an exclusive interview with Paul McCartney.
